There’s no added yellow color, which isn’t really important. For a sharp cheddar, this has a rather weak taste. Physically this is also rather soft for a sharp cheddar. There’s a peppery-like sharpness after a few seconds on the tongue. This is not what I expect from a sharp cheddar. On the plus side, the price at $4.99 per pound is rather reasonable. Calories clock in at 120 per ounce.

Trader Joe’s – Southwest Chicken Quesadillas – Food Review
07/09/2016Here’s a step up from your basic under $1 frozen burrito. This is a roughly 7 1/2 inch tortilla folded over in half on the filling. In short, it’s a quesadilla. The tortilla is “pre-toasted” giving it some substance even after freezing. At 400 calories it’s big enough to feel like you’ve had more than a snack. The filling is tasty and mildly spicy. On the negative side, the filling is somewhat pasty – although not as much as those under $1 frozen burritos. There are small chunks of chicken mixed in with the other ingredients giving the filling a little more texture. The quesadilla cooks up nicely in the microwave using the printed directions (3 minutes on 50% power and then 1 minute on high). Overall, for a relatively inexpensive frozen entrée, this is a good choice but not reaching the level of greatness.
Price $3.69 (2 per box) Calories 400 per quesadilla

Rustic comes to mind from first uncorking to finish. This is rough around all the edges, but not overly rough. From the Colchagua Valley of Chile, this is a good table wine. The wine is mildly dry on the roof of the mouth with a medium red color. The taste dissipates quickly making it difficult to pick up significant traits, either good or bad, except for a long lingering warmness in the mouth and beyond. Most importantly at this price, there’s nothing wrong with the wine. Especially if you’re in the habit of drinking wine with meals, this is a good inexpensive $4.99 red wine to accompany an everyday meal.

06/26/2016Choceur Blueberry Acai Dark Chocolate Covered Superberries – Food Review – ALDI
06/01/2016It’s not really dark chocolate. But it’s not milk chocolate either. Here’s the reason, it’s made in the USA. But it’s still good. Too good!
Why does the USA matter? Because, the USA seems to have an aversion to dark chocolate. Other Choceur products I’ve tried were imported from Germany where dark chocolate is typically more robust. While disappointed that the chocolate wasn’t what I was expecting, these are still very good. In fact so good it’s relatively easy to eat the whole 7 ounce package in a short time. At 170 calories per listed serving, and 5 servings per package, that’s 850 calories – about 1/2 of the total calories most of us need for an entire day! So ration yourself.
Price $2.79 (7 ounce package – 5 servings) Calories 170 per serving (10 pieces)
Trader Joe’s – Goat Milk Cheddar Cheese – Food Review

Trader Joe’s – Arugula Pizza – Food Review
05/15/2016May 15, 2016
The crust was crusty. The cheese was cheesy. The tomatoes were tomato(y). The sauce was mild and slightly sweet. The cheese could’ve been more plentiful. The arugula was not noticeable. The center was less done than the crust. The crust was a nice toasty bread. The pizza was from Italy no less. While this is an okay frozen pizza, there’s not much to distinguish it from other quality frozen pizzas.
Price $3.99 Calories 330 per slice (1/3 of pie)
Denada Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon – 2013 – Wine Review – Trader Joe’s
05/15/2016This is not an especially good wine. It’s drinkable, which is more than I could say for some others.
