New Mexico Piñon Coffee is made by the New Mexico Piñon Coffee Company. It’s pretty clear what this is and who makes it. But what’s a piñon?

Trader Joe’s – English Coastal Cheddar – Food Review
03/18/2016March 18, 2016
This is a very fine cheddar cheese imported from England (Dorset coast).
The cheese has a pale off-white color, not the usual yellow color found in US produced cheddar. This is not a “hard” cheese. It’s relatively easy to cut and a little crumbly. The cheese has a nice nutty flavor with a little bit of a tang. It’s not a sharp taste as might be found in a New York sharp cheddar, but still a very flavorful cheese. It reminds me a little of an aged Gouda, but not as hard. Similar to an aged Gouda you can feel (and hear) a few little cheese crystals crunch between your molars as you chew. Because of the pale color it’s difficult to see them in the cheese. I could easily get to like this. And I do.

Trader Joe’s – The White Ribbon – Shiraz – 2014 – Australia – Wine Review
02/18/2016Since following the The Wine Wankers, I’ve made an effort to pick up a bottle of Australian wine when stopping at the wine shelves. The Wine Wankers would probably agree that along with boxed wine, Shiraz is considered the national wine of Australia. In other parts of the world Shiraz is generally known as Syrah.
Trader Joe’s – Vegetable Panang Curry – Food Review
02/18/2016A gob of sticky rice, a mess, a few green things and a tasty sauce describes this microwave boxed meal. Trader Joe needs to go back to the drawing board on this one.
Trader Joe’s – Fort Cellars Merlot – 2012 – Wine Review
02/11/2016There’s a hint of vinegar on the cork and a medium-dark ruby color in the glass. The aroma of a crude red wine fills the air in the glass. Adding to the impression of a crude red wine is the dryish mouth feel of tannins, eventually leaving a semi-arid climate on the roof of the mouth. A more than bearable taste follows that. This is a classic table wine. A wine that’s not “refined” but ready for a tussle with a hearty bowl of stew and a chunk of bread torn from a long loaf. How would it stand up to a bowl of chili? The thought had never crossed my mind until now. Probably very well.
Apothic Red – Wine Review
02/05/2016If you’re on your way to an event you may not have really wanted to go to, short on time, feeling guilty that you have nothing to bring with you, don’t want to bring the usual MGD, and are stopped in a convenient place along the way – like Walgreens – rest assured there are worse wines on that wine shelf. But that’s about all the rest there is to be had.
