Trader Joe’s Avocado Salsa Verde bites. But bites in the good way.

Trader Joe’s Coastal Zinfandel 2007 – Wine Review
09/06/2010One description of a Zinfandel is, “A powerful wine known for its pepper, spice and tannins …”. Forget about the pepper, spice and other flavors attributed to any type of wine. I’ve never been able to taste them. TJ’s Coastal Zinfandel is powerful with heavy tannins.
Trader Joe’s Corn & Chile Salsa (Tomato-Less) – Food Review
09/04/2010The jar says, “A sweet combination of corn, red peppers, onion and a touch of heat.” And that it is.

09/04/2010Trader Joe’s President’s Reserve Extra Virgin Olive Oil – Food Review
08/22/2010Trader Joe’s President’s Reserve Extra Virgin Olive Oil is: Italian, cold pressed, good looking, good tasting, the right price and is surprisingly difficult to photograph. The only thing that could make it more perfect would be a picture of Sophia Loren.
Empanadas – Recipe
08/21/2010Empanadas are filled Latino “pastry pies”. And that’s a misleading description in my book. Since a picture is worth a thousand words, here’s a picture below. What’s pictured is really more appropriately named, empanadillas (small empanadas). We can quibble about the name while we eat them, because eating is the more important thing. These particular ones are filled with a tasty ground beef mixture. We might destroy all the mystery about the name by calling it a pocket sloppy joe. But that would be wrong.
Eat Pray Love – Movie Review
08/15/2010Eat, Pray, Love. If I had done any of these for the 2.25 hours the movie ran, I would’ve been better served.
Trader Joe’s Black Bean & Cheese Taquitos – Food Review
08/14/2010Once again. It was cardboard boxes before. Now it’s cut off pieces of plastic wrapping. It’s not a bad picture. It’s in focus. I had to work little to get the glare off the plastic wrap label. I could’ve spent more time getting the light even. But taking pictures of labels, is that what life should be about? I guess so.
Inception (2010) – Movie Review
08/05/2010Mission Impossible meets The Matrix.
Leonardo DiCaprio (playing Dom Cobb) finds himself in almost the same haunting memory he was in, in Shutter Island. That is, searching for the truth about his wife and two children. I’m sure this was purely coincidental, but it is an interesting aside.
