Tuella Douro – 2012 – Trader Joe’s – Wine Review
06/09/2015Presswork Shiraz – 2011 – Trader Joe’s – Wine Review
06/04/2015A slightly sweet aroma escaped the bottle as the screw cap was removed. That was unexpected along with the very pretty arterial blood-red color in the glass.
Holland 1839 Lager – Beer Review – ALDI
04/21/2015This is an okay European style lager imported to the US from Holland.
Mario Collina Prosecco – DOC – Wine Review – ALDI
04/07/2015The first surprise for this wine is the screw cap. The screw cap is most likely there as a little insurance for the extra pressure in the bottle. This is a mildly carbonated wine – bubbly. As an aside, despite everything you may have heard, there’s nothing wrong with a screw cap on a wine bottle. They’re just not as sexy as a cork.
Tommolo Montepulciano d’Abruzzo DOC – 2012 – Wine Review – Trader Joe’s
02/27/2015The first taste is sort of tannic, fruity and watery at the same time. All in all, it’s not a taste that’s impressive. Neither is it a taste that’s abusive.
San Zenone Venezie Bianco – 2013 – IGT – Wine Review – ALDI
02/24/2015This is an ALDI “while quantities last” special. They could last a long time if my bottle is representative of the wine.
1967 – Toscana IGT 2010 – Grifone – Wine Review – Trader Joe’s
01/14/2015Little did I know when I did the San Zenone Toscana Rosso wine review, that a week earlier I had picked up this IGT Toscana from Trader Joe’s. If I had remembered I would have done a side by side comparison. No one ever said wine improves the memory. Did they? I can’t remember.
Toscana 2011 IGT Rosso – San Zenone – Wine Review – ALDI
01/03/2015I’m not quite as enthusiastic over this 2011 vintage as the Bald Viveur was for the 2009 vintage. But for those who care, the bald guy explains some of the mystery over what’s in the bottle.
Landshut Riesling – 2013 – Wine Review – ALDI
12/09/2014Everyone needs one of these if for no other reason than the electric blue bottle.
Grifone Chianti Riserva – DOCG – 2010 – Trader Joe’s
12/07/2014For $1.50 more and a couple of years more aging I was expecting great things from this wine in comparison to its IGT little brother recently tasted (Grifone Sangiovese IGT 2013). What I got was at least $1.50 better wine. But that’s not a bad thing, and just points out how good little brother is.
