Today’s review is a wine from Portugal.
There’s not much in the way of an aroma when the bottle is first uncorked. Of note is just a hint of something that would suggest an everyday table wine. And indeed that’s the way the wine also tastes. A touch plus of tannins leave the roof of the mouth a little dry and the texture a little rough. The wine gently warms the body.
This is not to say this is not a good wine. It is a good wine. In fact it’s most likely better than the $30 bottle of wine you’re going to buy at a dinner. If you were to slip and order it at a dinner, you’d still be okay.
We know where to drink this, but then, what to drink it with? This will hold up very well to any stronger tasting dish. Or maybe we should say, stronger tasting dishes will hold up to this wine. For example, give it a try with barbecue. Who said you need beer with barbecue? It is likely to overpower milder dishes, such as most white fish or shrimp.
Price $6.99
