Mission Impossible meets The Matrix.
Leonardo DiCaprio (playing Dom Cobb) finds himself in almost the same haunting memory he was in, in Shutter Island. That is, searching for the truth about his wife and two children. I’m sure this was purely coincidental, but it is an interesting aside.

Having been low on wine for at least a month, I made a long overdue trip to the Trader today. While there, of course, it’s impossible to just come out of the store with what you thought you were going in for. So here’s a tasty extra which goes pretty good with the wine.

I don’t know how this one got past the Syfy (Sci-Fi) Channel and actually got to the movies. The guy behind me was wondering out loud if he could get his money back. And, we only paid a dollar for the admission. Well, I suppose there are worse movies that, fortunately, I never get to see. However this one was pretty bad based on almost any criteria.

Let us cultivate our garden.
For those of you who like the two philosophical stoners, Jay and Silent Bob, you’ll like Clerks II. For those of you who might be offended by a hilarious parody of the Tijuana donkey show, or, first test, for those of you who don’t have a clue what the Tijuana donkey show is, better leave this one on the video rental shelf or take it off your Netflix queue.

Assuming you already have a fork, spoon, knife, plates, some kind of frying pan and a basic pot of some sort, there are only 3 things that a real cook needs. This is the third. See other posts for items 1 (chef’s knife) and 2 (cutting board).

Sometimes you just have to make do. Lobster bisque is great. But not many of us have a bathtub full of lobster ready to give up the ghost to a bowl of soup. Read the rest of this entry »

If I had ever looked ahead and discovered I’d eventually be taking pictures of cardboard boxes, I never would’ve bought the camera. But here I am again. First it was the box of Trader Joe’s Spanakopita, and now it’s a box of Trader Joe’s Eggplant Cutlets. But to make something good out of something bad (taking the picture of the box is bad, not the cutlets themselves), there are two very interesting things about the box. Read on.

Not even Jenna Jameson’s bare chest could save this one. While a plot synopsis normally isn’t given in these reviews, it would be difficult to write one for this movie, as there is little or no plot. The bottom line, 3.5 numb butts. Only Jenna saved it from rating a perfect 4.

It’s not like Mama used to make. But then, Mama never made Spanakopita.
The most amazing thing with this product is that it’s baked in the cardboard box it comes in. And I’m not talking about microwave baking. I’m talking about a real oven. Right in the cardboard box, and no flames.
