These are pretty good cookies. There’s a nice mint chocolate center sandwiched between two cookies. I suppose the nearest comparison would be to a Pepperidge Farms Milano. This cookie is firmer than the Milano. It’s not as dainty. While this may not be 100% as good as a Milano, it’s still good enough to eat the whole bag. And it will save a little money over a Milano.

The package says, “with just a hint of anise”, but for me that was the whole story. This is more like anise toast than almond biscotti. For anise toast, it was fairly good. There was a nice and proportionally strong anise flavor to the biscotti. The biscotti were firm, but still a little soft and not very crumbly. There were small pieces of nuts occasionally sprinkled throughout the biscotti. The package says almond and walnuts. But there was very little almond flavor to match the package label. So maybe the wrong biscotti got in the wrong box, or something like that?

ALDI Specially Selected Chocolate Coated Butter Cookies
This is basically just an update on the previously reviewed ALDI chocolate coated butter cookies. For whatever reasons companies do these things, ALDI has renamed and slightly changed the package of these still great cookies. The ALDI “Cafe Bistro” name has given way to the ALDI “Specially Selected” name. Most importantly, the same really really good chocolate coating is still on the same unlikely butter cookie. The combination still makes these one of the best cookies on any grocery shelf.
