Ex Machina – Movie Review
04/26/2015This is a heady science fiction film. Before people reach for the X button on their browser, good science fiction is neither about science nor about fiction. It’s about us. To alleviate any fears that may exist from the word heady, the film contains beer drinking, vodka drinking, nudity (female only) and a disco scene. I can’t explain the last.
SOPA – Déjà vu all over again
01/20/2012On January 18th parts of the internet protested pending legislation called SOPA and PIPA. These two pieces of legislation attempt to make it easier to stop pirating of copyrighted works by allowing broad governmental authority to block access to sites which contain or link to illegal material.
The protests expressed concern that there was potential for widespread suppression of legitimate content along with illegal content.
On January 19th, under current laws, the internet site Megaupload.com was taken down by the U.S. government. Along with the alleged illegal copyrighted content, all legitimate content was also taken down.
Déjà vu all over again.
