It doesn’t look, feel, smell or taste like Swiss cheese. Then what is it?
Good question. At the least it’s something to put on some equally mysterious meat that lives between two slices of, hopefully, toasted bread. At the most, it’s inexpensive. It’s one of those “pasteurized process cheese product” things. Reassuringly, the package lists twice, “made with milk”. There are 16 individually very well wrapped 3/4 ounce “slices” in a package labelled 12 ounces. I did the math, it works.
While this may not satisfy a craving for Swiss cheese, it adds a surprising creamy smoothness to a sandwich, or even to the mouth when doing some late night nibbling.
