Oysters have pearls, pine cones have this.
While looking for a unique angle to photograph this pine cone up close, I noticed something twinkling at me.
Also note the reflection above of the LED bulb which is illuminating the cone (click on the image to enlarge).

When clicked to make larger, it is a really fine shot of pinecone gunk (just like pearls are oyster gunk…everything being relative), especially with the reflection of the lights.
