This is perhaps the worst coffee at Trader Joe’s. Harsh and not tasting much like coffee at all, this breakfast blend may explain why so many people skip breakfast.

On first opening, there’s an odd, burnt, not pleasant, smell escaping the can. This soon dissipates leaving a neutral aroma. The beans are a nice medium brown color with no oil showing, indicative of the claimed medium roast. After grinding, the beans produce an earthy smell. The first hint of an unpleasant coffee experience comes from the aroma when hot water is added to the French press. Once fully brewed the unpleasant coffee experience is confirmed. The only saving grace for this coffee is the earthy taste of the coffee after a few minutes of cooling. The harshness disappears leaving a taste that some people may enjoy.
The coffee is labeled organic (USDA) and Fair Trade. The coffee is sourced from South America, poetically, “Along the base of the Andes . . .” according to the label.
If you shop at Trader Joe’s, there are many other coffees available that are better than this one. The Tarrazu, Honduran and Bali coffees are at the top of my list.
Price $7.99 (14 oz can)

I like the way you blame skipping breakfast as possibly due to this coffee. 🙂
