ALDI – Mango Habanero Salsa

This is one of the few salsas that delivers what it promises.  That’s Habanero.

This is a medium-hot to hot salsa.  If you have any kind of aversion to heat, leave this on the shelf.  The salsa starts out as an almost sweet salsa.  That only lasts about 3 seconds as the heat starts to build.   Over the next minute, the heat continues to build leaving a soft wow coming out of the mouth.  After another minute, the heat subsides to a medium-hot and remains that way for several more minutes.  If a little bit of the Habanero vapors reach the nose, there’s a distinct burning sensation on the sensitive mucous membranes.   Speaking of mucous membranes, have a few tissues nearby.

This is one of ALDI’s Specially Selected items.  Specially Selected items tend to be available all the time.  But there’s no guarantee of that considering ALDI’s unique marketing strategy.  If you find some and like heat in a salsa, this is worth a try.  But beware, my lips are still tingling 15 minutes later.
