Sauvignon de Seguin – 2014 – AOC Bordeaux

Today’s review is a white Bordeaux.

June 16, 2015

When first opened the wine has a slightly fruity aroma.   That does not last once in the glass.  The color is pale yellow.  This wine is dry, acidic and astringent.  It reminds me of a house wine that one would find at an open bar at a conference.  It’s certainly drinkable, but not something that’s totally enjoyable by itself.  One reviewer compares this wine to New Zealand cat piss (more often referred to as cat pee).  That is not a negative comment, but one that describes a particular quality of some New Zealand Sauvignon wines.

This wine was paired with some brie (review here) and crackers (review here).  The wine tended to overpower both.

To be fair, I’m not a big fan of white wines in general.  A white wine like this is the reason I prefer to stay with reds.  If you’re a white wine fan, you may enjoy this wine.  If you’re not a white wine fan, this isn’t going to change your opinion.

Price $6.99

This review is INSANE. This is a -highly drinkable- very decent wine, at 3 times the cost. At $5.99 is a steal. Buy it , you’ll love it.
