D.R.G. Pinot Noir – 2014 – Wine Review

I’m not sure how I acquired this wine (probably a gift), but I wish I hadn’t.  With a medicinal taste that forced a face scrunch, there wasn’t much enjoyment in this wine.

Comparing to a fair amount of reviews on the net, my experience is surprising.  The general reviews for this wine are quite good.  That was not my experience from first opening, after exposure to air, and after a couple of days in the frig.  Perhaps the wine is too young or I had a bad bottle but, unless you receive it as a gift, I’d pass on giving it a second chance.  Based on the net, the wine is priced in the $10 to $20 range.

Thanks for sharing! The Russian River Pinot Noir is definitely it’s own type of creature – different from Burgundy or Oregon or anywhere else Pinot grapes are grown. I will try and find a bottle here and see if I like it. You may enjoy our wine country blog: http://www.topochinesvino.com. Follow us if you like what you see.

A pinot noir is not stored in the fridge. Best to leave it out. It is a dry wine and I think the lighter of the reds. Not everyone likes a dry. I never put my reds in the fridge unless they are a sweet wine. Somewhere cool is all it needs. Mind you , I’m no pro, but I like dry wines best, be they white or red. Cool post! Hope your next experience is better.

Thanks. In or out of the fridge there was little hope for this bottle. But the bright side is, there’s always a new wine to try. And so I will!

Absolutely! My ex and I had started up a wine import years ago and I recall us receiving cases of “free” wine from all over trying to get us to solicit their wine. It was amazing. Although not connoisseurs, we had enough samplings to determine what we liked or didn’t like. It was fun. We sold the business before the divorce. (smile)
